What makes Eco Home View's Humantay Lake tour different from other operators?

Eco Home View offers small group sizes (maximum 12 travelers), locally-hired guides from Soraypampa communities, eco-friendly practices including waste management on the trail.

The hike covers approximately 7 km (4.3 miles) round trip with an elevation gain of about 400 meters (1,300 feet) at high altitude (starting point at 3,800m, lake at 4,200m). Most moderately fit travelers complete the hike in 1.5-2 hours up and 1 hour down. Our guides are trained to accommodate different hiking paces, and emergency horses are available for an additional fee if needed.

Our all-inclusive package features: hotel pickup/drop-off in Cusco, transportation in our modern vans with oxygen supply, professional English/Spanish bilingual guides, breakfast at our partner restaurant in Mollepata, emergency first aid equipment, hiking poles, a packed lunch prepared with organic local ingredients.

We recommend: comfortable hiking clothes (layers), waterproof jacket, hat for sun protection, gloves (early morning starts are cold), sunscreen (altitude intensifies UV exposure), refillable water bottle (we provide purified water refills), small daypack, camera, and extra cash for optional horse rental or local crafts.

For the most vibrant turquoise colors of the lake, book between May and September (dry season). Our guides particularly recommend June-August when clear skies are most consistent. We operate year-round with special wet season equipment (November-April), but be aware that occasional morning fog can temporarily obscure views during these months. We recommend booking at least 3 days in advance during high season (June-August).

Lake Humantay is a site to behold and well worth the journey. The tour guide was very helpful in ensuring we had a good time and met all our goals. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. Be ready for a steep hike at times which can be fairly rugged.
